A team from the Special Economic Zones Authority visited KenGen to assess its potential as a Special Economic Zone. The proposed multi-sector project will include Light, Steam Intensive, and Medium Heavy Industries, leveraging KenGen's 100% green energy production. The Special Economic Zones Authority (SEZA) Board of Directors and Management paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Rebecca Miano, Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Investments, Trade & Industry (MITI). During the meeting, the CS emphasized the pivotal role played by the Kenya Special Economic Zones Authority in realizing the government's ambitious economic development objectives. The CS underscored the MITI's three key targets: Increase Foreign Direct Investments (FDI) to USD 10 billion annually, boost exports, and Increase manufacturing contribution to GDP by 20% by 2030. The Authority briefed the CS on the SEZ program's progress, citing the creation of 4,768 jobs and attracting over USD 227 million in investments.
